RenterCheck in ChatGPT and Claude
Ask ChatGPT, Claude or another AI assistant about a home to rent in England, and it can run RenterCheck’s free check from public records, then give you the findings and a link to the report. Connect it once with the address below.
Connect RenterCheck
RenterCheck’s connector address (an MCP server, no sign-in needed):
https://rentercheck.co.uk/api/mcp
Claude
In Claude, open Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector, name it RenterCheck and paste the address above. Then, in a chat, turn RenterCheck on from the tools menu and ask about the home.
ChatGPT
In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps, turn on Developer mode under Advanced settings, then Create app with the address above and no authentication. Developer mode is available on paid ChatGPT plans.
Other assistants and tools
Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP can use the same address, with no authentication: for example Le Chat, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Cursor or VS Code.
What the assistant can do
Run a free RenterCheck run_free_check
The free check on one home, from its postcode and house number: energy certificate, flood and planning designations, recorded crime nearby and sale history. It saves the check like one run on this website and gives a link to the report.
Find addresses at a postcode find_addresses
Lists the homes at a postcode, so the assistant can ask which one you mean.
Check a rental postcode check_rental_postcode
Facts for an area from a postcode alone: the average private rent for the council, Local Housing Allowance rates, council property licensing, flood risk and the nearest stations. Nothing is saved.
Every answer says where its figures come from. If a source can’t be reached, the check says “not checked” and the assistant is told to treat it as unknown, never as fine. Rent comparison with homes advertised nearby, the owner check and the tenancy agreement check are part of Complete RenterCheck, bought on this website.
Things to ask
- “I’m viewing a 2-bed flat at 12 Hyde Park Road, LS6 1AA on Saturday. The rent is £1,150. Can you check it with RenterCheck?”
- “Is £950 a month a fair rent for a 1-bed near M14 5RG?”
- “Does a council licensing scheme cover rentals in E17 4PP?”
Privacy and support
RenterCheck receives only what each check needs from the assistant, never your conversation. A check of a particular home is saved like one run on this website, so you can open its report; a postcode check is not saved. The privacy notice has the detail, and the terms apply as on the website. RenterCheck gives information, not legal advice.

Questions about RenterCheck in AI assistants
Can ChatGPT or Claude check a rental property?
Yes, with RenterCheck connected. Give the assistant the postcode and house number of a home to rent in England and it runs RenterCheck’s free check from public records, then passes on the findings and a link to the full report. Without a connector, an assistant can only tell you what to check, not look the home up.
Does it cost anything?
No. The checks an assistant runs are the free RenterCheck. Complete RenterCheck (£9.99, one property) is bought on rentercheck.co.uk, never inside the assistant.
What does the assistant send to RenterCheck?
Only what the check needs: the postcode, and for a particular home the house number or address, and the rent and bedrooms if you gave them. RenterCheck never receives your conversation or your account details.
Does it work outside England?
No. RenterCheck covers homes in England only, because the records and renting law it checks against are England’s.
